**UPDATED- SEE BELOW**
In a recent study at the medical college of Georiga, it was determined that kids who are mildly overweight, not even obese, have a much higher risk of cardiovascular disease. Lead researcher, Dr. Yanbin Dong says the findings should be a "a wake-up call for parents, for caretakers for the community and for pediatricians." To read the full article, click here.
This research reaffirms the fact that we as parents must do a better job monitoring the eating habits of our children. We have the duty to ensure our children are healthy. If we let them eat whatever they want, it's going to affect their health their entire life. It may even shorten their life. I don't know of any parent who wants to see their children have health problems. This is common sense folks. It starts with us. If we eat unhealthy foods our kids will too. We can't just let them go out and eat fast food and have a bunch of candy at school. It may take more time, money, and preparation, but creating a healthy diet routine will help ensure the health of our kids for the rest of their lives. It's time we start making a difference. Ignorance is no excuse. We need to step up and be better parents.
