How To Live Longer In Five Easy Steps

Here's the secret on how to live longer... There is no secret! And while there is no guarantee that any of us are going to live to an old age, let alone reach the century mark, we can help our chances with a little effort. Here's my list of five simple things we can implement in our daily routine to give us the best shot at longevity.

1. Eat Right- Probably the easiest way of helping increase our life expectancy. Eating a diet rich in fruits and vegetables and low in sugars and fats will add a good 5 years. Stay away from Trans Fat, it will kill you!

2. Don't use drugs- This includes alcohol. Drugs and alcohol destroy our bodies and probably knock a good 5 to 10 yeas off live expectancy if used regularly.

3. Regular Exercise- Daily exercise keeps our bodies fit and helps us maintain proper body weight. 5 years added.

4. Relaxation- Stress has been proven to cause early death. If you want to live to an old age, you better find a way to release all of those stresses life can dish us. Make sure you take time to keep yourself mentally in check. Take vacations and spend time doing activities you enjoy. Don't take life so serious; it's never as bad as it seems. I'll give it 7 years.

5. Laugh- Laughter lightens the mood and keeps our spirits up. It helps keeps us motivated when times get tough. Laughter is a simple cure for many of life's obstacles. Try to remember that something bad that happens today will almost certainly be insignificant a year from now. Laugh a little more. It'll give you 3 years.

Okay, now let's add it up.
Eat Right +5
No Drugs +5-10
Exercise +5
Relaxation +7
Laughter +3

That's an additional 25-30 years! The average life expectancy is around 75-80. By practicing these in our daily lives, we should easily be able to hit that magical 100 mark!
