How to heal cavities naturally

The world is slowly waking up to the fact that, when you give the body what it needs, it can heal things we previously thought were impossible. A fine example of what is often deemed as an incurable health problem is dental cavities, but extensive research is now becoming more public about the true nature of tooth decay and the fact that there are proven remedies that can remedy it.

The lies perpetrated about tooth decay

According to the American Dental Association, the reason we have tooth decay is as follows:

“[Tooth decay] occurs when foods containing carbohydrates (sugars and starches) such as milk, pop, raisins, cakes or candy are frequently left on the teeth. Bacteria that live in the mouth thrive on these foods, producing acids as a result. Over a period of time, these acids destroy tooth enamel, resulting in tooth decay.”

There are a few problems with this theory, including:

• Groups of indigenous people who had fermentable carbohydrates stuck on their teeth all the time that did not brush or floss were mostly or completely free of tooth decay.

• Bacteria do not consume processed sugar or flour because of the lack of nutrients in them.

• Foods that bacteria like to eat, such as milk, vegetables, meat, fish and fruit, are not commonly implicated in causes of tooth decay.

So if the modern explanation of tooth decay is not accurate, what is actually the cause of tooth decay?

What actually causes tooth decay

Tooth decay, as researched by Dr. Weston Price and other dental pioneers, boiled down to three factors:

• Not enough minerals in the diet.

• Not enough fat-soluble vitamins (A, D, E, and K) in the diet.

• Nutrients not being readily bioavailable, and your intestinal system not properly absorbing them. The presence of phytic acid largely influences this factor.

Over a period of time, if your diet lacks vitamins and minerals from a poor diet and/or contains high levels of phytates (from grains, seeds, nuts, and legumes), the blood chemistry and the ratio of calcium and phosphorous become out of balance, which results in minerals being pulled from bones, causing tooth and bone loss.

So, the long-standing belief that sugar causes tooth decay is true, but as a result of it depleting nutrients from the body, not because bacteria eat it and produce acid that ruins your teeth.

The food remedies that can heal cavities and tooth decay

In order to restore the ratio of calcium and phosphorus in our blood, and to enable minerals to bond to our teeth, it is not enough to just avoid eating too many sweet or processed foods. We must also eat health-building foods, containing copious amounts of minerals and vitamins that will build a glassy hard tooth structure.

Foods to focus on are:

• Coconut oil, grass-fed organic dairy (especially butter), grass-fed meats, seafood and bone broths.

• Organic cooked vegetables (soups with bone broth are ideal).

• Organ and gland meats, like liver.

Limit foods that are high in phytic acid, like grains, beans, nuts and seeds, as well as limiting processed food intake full of processed flours and sugars that upset blood sugar balance.

Supplements to consider are:

• Fermented cod liver oil – very high in fat soluble vitamins A, D and K.

• Magnesium – required to use calcium and phosphorous effectively.

• Gelatin – if you don’t have time to make bone broth, this is a good alternative and is great for gums and digestion.

    Isn't it far simpler to keep one's mouth shut rather than to put another person down for their opinions – we all have them and we all make the same mistake. So instead of putting the other person down or trying to better another person… why not try to educate rather than dominate. And if you don't like it just leave quietly.

  2. Sorry, I'm going to remove myself from your list. Your articles are getting flakier all the time
    The majority of your recommendations are all meat. You are implying don't be vegetarian or vegan. Maybe you should read the china study.

  3. Ken Baugh I think he is implying that meat also has benefits. That does not mean that vegetarianism is wrong. Just that you have to work harder to get certain nutrients such as B12. That is just fact. There are plenty of benefits to a vegetarian diet as there are to eating meat.

  4. Frank Lopez

    Michael Brown Actually their are a lot of options for B12, nutritional yeast being one them, taste awesome on popcorn :)

  5. Cindy Lacy

    you might want to rethink your statement there, Frank. nutritional yeast only contains B12 if it's been fortified, which means you're getting synthetic, not natural B12 – which, by the way, only comes from animal products. if you eat eggs or dairy (grassfed, hopefully) then you're good on the B12.

  6. Jonty Kershaw

    Really, it's a shame that some vegans can't handle the idea that other people eat meat. It's like fundamentalist religion. Surely you can disagree with an article without swearing and threatening to quit reading.

  7. The carcass is digesting and passing through just like the vegetables that are digesting and passing through. Have you ever seen a pile of old spinach that is decomposing? It's just as disgusting as a dead animal that is decomposing.

    I am a registered dental hygienist and these facts are not correct ; caries – (tooth decay) is multi- factoral . Enamel gets robbed of its "calcium building blocks " from the acids we consume – frequency is the issue: pop, vitamin c – ascorbic acid, malic acid, etc. read labels and see how many of the foods have just these few acids in them : there is a long list of others that weaken the enamel allowing the strep mutans bacteria to produce their by product – acid that starts the decay process.
    Adding minerals to our diet does not strengthen a hardened surface that was already formed between the age of 1-10 years. however we can stop the decay process by remineralizing with bioavailable calcium carbonate or fluoride.
    FYI: the sugars in milk (lactose) is not a food for strep mutans. so milk, yogurt, hard cheeses are great between meal snacks that actually inhibit the disease process of cavity formation.

    Good health comes from within.. I study holistic nutrition. And I can say one thing here.. Each and everyone of us has our own INDIVIDUAlIZED health journey. Eating bone broths are very healing to a person with weak digestive strength.. Another person may be eating a raw diet and not even be digesting their veggies b/c again it takes alot of digestive energy. meet ppl at where they are at in their journey. don't bash others for their bodies needing different nutrients.. educating each other is powerful and we need more ppl in the world to be supportive of each other journeys. the author should of included it's important to make bone broths from animals that are grass fed/organic.. anyways cheers to good health everyone. and listen to the signs and symptoms of your body. your body will let you know when things need changing the key is to just listen. :)

  10. "Bacteria do not consume processed sugar or flour because of the lack of nutrients in them."

    I disagree with that. We have Streptococcus mutans living in our mouth. They feed on fructose. When they metabolize fructose for energy, lactic acid get released. High fructose corn syrup is fructose (I guess comes right from the name), on the other hand sugarcane is mostly sucrose.

  11. Monique Honeywell Chernin

    I am studying holistic nutrition as well and couldn't agree more! Everyone has their own individual weakness and strengths in food, and we all need to figure out what metabolic type you are in order to heal our bodies and have energy! We are all different within and educated each other without being cruel is key!

  12. Education not domination is a great idea! But suggesting if you don't like something you should leave quietly, while in theory creates silence, is it not the adverse opinions of others, regardless of how they are presented, which calls attention to perhaps a potential misalignment of our own perspective? Silence is not always golden. The belief that keeping our mouth shut is exactly what allows domination. Perhaps offensive deliveries are a turn off, and create a vibration that is uncomfortable for others, but complacency is the silent killer. Like the frog in water heated slowly in his silence, soon becomes soup. Just a though. 1<3

  13. Nice post! I think life is an experiment and one of the most harmless thing to others is what we put on our own plate. It's an individual chocie. We should at least be allowed that much! To insult someone for their personal choice of being thin or rotund, muscular or refined, pierced and tatooed or alnatural, etc., ad nauseum….. just "Let it be"… If you want real change, meditate 20 minutes daily, it will place you in alignment and it's free! 1<3

    For your daily minerals you could add a tiny pinch of Sea Salt (about 1/16 of teaspoon) to every 8 oz. ( or 1 Cup) of your water. Preferably Organic, Celtic or Pink Himalayan Sea Salt & hopefully you're using filtered or spring water.

    (( You can do the same for your pets. BUT ALWAYS leave them another water bowl with regular (CLEAN & FILTERED) water containing NO SEA SALT. And let them decide which water they want & need. Animals can't speak for themselves so it's EXTREMELY IMPORTANT that you provide them both choices. ))

    ** It's also important that you slowly build up to this amount of (1/16 tsp.) sea salt to every 1 Cup (or 8 fluid oz.) of water.**

    Don't worry about taste. 1/16 of a teaspoon salt to 8 oz. water is so little that you won't really be able to taste it. This is for daily use.

    Google Organic Sea Salt & you'll be amazed at the amount of minerals & nutrients found in them.

  15. Shoo Hoo

    You can also use Sea Salt for naturally curing yourself (or even your pets) of ailments such as Urinary Tract Infections or most other health issues, by TEMPORARILY doing the following….

    1- Pour 4 & half cups of water in a big water bottle (Preferably a glass bottle. Not plastic).
    2- Add 1/4 teaspoon of Sea Salt to it.
    3- Label the bottle & store separately in the fridge.
    4- Drink from that water ONLY. Drink til it (the 4 & half cups of water with 1/4 tsp. sea salt) is all gone.

    ** By this point, you will (most likely) have already noticed that your symptoms are gone but it is usually advised that you should prepare another bottle of water with less sea salt in it.**

    5- This time add just 1/8 teaspoon sea salt to the same amount (4 & half cups) of water.
    6- Drink from that water bottle til it 's all gone.

    8- At this point you may go back to regular daily use of a tiny pinch (1/16 tsp.) of sea salt in every 1 cup (8 oz) of your daily water.

    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    ((( For treating an ANIMALS with Urinary Tract Infection or other ailments with this method, you can follow the same dosage (1/4 tsp. added to 4 & half cups water til all gone. Then 1/8 tsp. added to 4 & half cups of water til all gone) as you would to cure yourself. **** BUT PLEASE REMEMBER to also leave another bowl full of water containing NO Sea Salt. ))
    *** It would be ideal (while treating your pet for Urinary or other problems) if you would first prepare Step 1 & Step 2 (water to sea salt ratio types of bottles separately) ahead of time AND LABEL them both. One bottle with '1/4 tsp. Salt' & the other bottle saying '1/8 tsp. Salt'. – This way you can then provide 3 water bowls ( three choices of water) for your pets to drink from during the treatment. – 1 water bowl with just plain filtered water. Another bowl from the 1/4 tsp. sea salt bottle. Another water bowl from the 1/8 tsp. sea salt labeled water bottle. AND let the animal decide which bowl to drink from. ****
    Google 'Natural Remedies – Cures with Sea Salt' for yourself or add to your search 'for animals' ('dogs', 'cats') & decide for yourselves. :)
  16. With all due respect-my advise is to do your own research. Unfortunately, the school that taught you that information, couldn't be further from the truth. I urge you to just look into it a little deeper for you're own benefit and you might be surprised at what you find.
    except meat is extremely acidic, promoting chronic disease. there is no such thing as "loving and caring" murder. talking to your farm animals nicely and/or giving them treats before you slice them up and eat them doesn't do any justice. eating meat is ONLY necessary in situations where you have nothing else to eat and need to survive, otherwise it's just cruelty towards animals all so you can satisfy an appetite or put some antlers on your wall. sitting in a tree with a loaded gun for five hours waiting for something to walk past takes zero talent and isn't natural in any way, shape, or form.
    Shoo Hoo there is currently no Himalayan sea, in fact pink Himalayan salt is mined from the earth and is known as "rock salt"- although "rock salt" deposits do ultimately come from the sea in fact, they were laid down in ancient times in areas where seas once existed- which begs a question when we think of how far above sea level the Himalayas are now! Anyway, rock salt -being from ancient rather than contemporary, highly polluted sea water- is clearly likely to be far cleaner than sea salt -considering there are more pollutants in sea water now .. also there are absolutely no special properties in more expensive Himalayan pink rock salt than those which exist in cheap, in locally mined rock salt. At the end of the day, rock salt is the safer option all around because in addition to pollutants in sea water, some companies producing sea salt think its clever to add chemicals to it, and then it is just as bad for you as common table salt- ie toxic.
    Once decay has gone beyond the enamel there is no cure. But if the decay is still in the enamel then use xylitol to reminerilize it. Of course eating a healthy diet will prevent decay with regular brushing and flossing.
  25. Tony Do
    Yeah dude, the meat just sits there in your body, it's not like you have a digestive system or anything… Look, I respect all types of people, especially vegans since maintaining that type of diet MUST be hard, but if you can't even comprehend the point of this article, than what the fuck are you pissed off about!?!?
  26. Interesting…but Derek Henry, I find it extremely offensive and not at all acceptable in today's new and more enlightened/awakened consciousness that you so boorishly dismiss living feeling sentient beings who are the same as us in every way except that they have a different outer form from humans, as "grass-fed meats". It is people like you who are still in the Old Unenlightened Consciousness of Mankind, who do and are still doing so much damage and harm on this planet – the old mind-set that sees no wrong in humans' vicious and incessant exploitation, abuse, torture, oppression, imprisonment and murder of billions of other lives every day across our poor burdened Planet because they want to "EAT" the dead corpses of these poor non-human animals. Such a practice is savage, barbaric, dreafully cruel and completely UNhealthy since humans are Frugivores…not Omnivores, nor Carnivores (a simple comparative study of the digestive systems and teeth structures of these 3 Animal groups will clearly show anyone this fact). The vast consumption of dead animal bodies and animal breast-milk (designed by nature to feed INFANT cows, not ADULT humans) by humans is the cause of human ill-health and the catalyst for many diseases. So it seems that you don't know that much about what is and what is not "good" for human health. To conclude: your "grass-fed meats" are living, breathing, feeling, beautiful animals who desire and DESERVE to be respected by humans, and given the same rights to a happy life, free from suffering. Your comment shows that you suffer from the widespread mental illness (delusion) in humans of Species-ism – (a belief of humans that all other species of animals are inferior and may therefore be used for human benefit without regard to the suffering inflicted.) This is an unenlightened frame of mind. An awakened consciousness sees ALL life forms with equal vision as one and the Same… One LIfe/Consciousness, and an enlightened Mind affords ALL life the same degree of respect, compassion and care. NOT IMPRESSED.
  27. Seth A. Yellin you are dead wrong it is a fact that chimps regularly eat meat as do other primates such as baboons please quit pushing your bullshit vegan agenda . Chimps eat lil monkeys after they have fed as a dessert ..think about that idiot.
    Not believing this site's info anymore. Seems bogus and very anti-establishment. Being anti-establishment is fine. Western society is plagued with hypocrisy, false sanctimony, pretence and deep corruption which undermine many traditions upheld by its followers. But the "news" posts here just seem stupid. Almost like hipster news. Stupid and without noted sources for the information.. "Duhh the GOV aren't writing this alternative news so it must be true!"
    I like where it says:
    "Groups of indigenous people who had fermentable carbohydrates…" – huh? Well what groups of indigenous people might that be eh? There are/were indigenous people all over the world! Shoddy journalism.
    Later is the proclaimed solution to these acids and lack of minerals which allegedly cause tooth decay: "Organic cooked vegetables" (and meats). How do you organic cook vegetables? Perhaps they mean "cooked organic vegetables"?
    For a site dedicated to tooting about organic food benefits; that seems to really undermine the authors credibility of the subject.
    That aside, I struggle to understand that organic is necessary to the prevention efforts against tooth decay. I understand, sort of; the concerns people have with GMO… but really – I doubt it causes tooth decay! And if it does you can't just say it does – you have to describe how – with sources to scientific reports/studies. GMO is a change in the genetics. They are not trying to remove the beneficial nutrients that were already there.
    Half of you be all like "aww you can't just believe anything the media tells you". But you're believing this, and it doesn't even have a very professional journalistic approach. No sources. Well what about the people who run this site? What qualifies them? Do they have an agenda? Feels a bit culty here :P.
  29. I haven't seen any reference here to oil pulling for oral health. It's great for your teeth and gums. Search online for details; it's best with cold-pressed sesame oil or liquified coconut oil.
  30. Jerica Cadman
    Seth A. Yellin "Red-meat kills your colon by rotting it." My husband had disease of the colon (ulcerative colitis) and cured it by switching to an animal based diet. We eat red meat 4x a week, chicken and pork the remainder, and eggs daily. He is now off all medications and has no symptoms. You've been vegetarian for a few months and may find that this period of fasting from animal products and processed food has invigorated you for a time, but you may find in 5 years that you need those animal products again. Most do.
  31. Kimmie Bair
    You keep the flouride. I will pass on that one. SMH. Not a fan of the fact that some bright folks decided to poison us all with flouride in our water either. I wish people who comment on these things actually had the knowledge they love to claim they have.. Open your eyes and take off the blinders dental hygenist. Even Harvard educated medical doctors, once they open their eyes and do their own research, tend to see the error of what you are saying (that was taught to you – so you can mislead others down your poison path).
  32. Kimmie Bair
    I'm trying to figure out why someone who was wise enough to turn vegan is being so close minded that he cannot glean important info from NON vegan articles. So because it wasn't a pro vegan article you will stop reading? Really? SMH. Stop being a meat snob and understand that the vegan life isn't for everyone. It's not your job to judge.. Just be you and take care of you and share your knowledge.
  33. Jackie Weaver
    Jerica Cadman, If I remember correctly, Dr Mercola was a strict vegetarian at one time but had to go back to eating meat for health reasons…like I said, my memory might be wrong on this but I am 98% sure I read this…can be easily googled which I do not feel like doing now…
  34. It is also good to brush your teeth with warm water to dissolve sugars left on your teeth after sweet tea, soda, coffee with sugar, ice cream etc. The more you talk, the more cooling air is circulated in the mouth to dry and adhere sugars to teeth enamel.
  35. The thing is it is a personal choice & you have no right to berate meat eaters. Just like we have no right to put down vegans. Living clean, healthy, & eating Organic foods is my choice & that includes meats. The problem is that vegans get angry & start putting everyone down as if they were perfect. Please. Worse vegans force veggie diets on their meat eating pets. Which has been shown over & over to make animals like cats & dogs sick. You are literally forcing natural to change course. Force is never good no matter where it comes from.We are not trying to make you eat meat so stop trying to make us vegan. The threats, the anger, the cursing is weak.
  36. You learned & work for a system geared to make sure that we have to keep coming back for treatment rather than just fixing the problem. Your research is biased & money based. Research changes on a daily basis. Not to mention that the dental associations still support fluoride even though it is well publicized & researched that it is a poison that can actually rot away your teeth. I find it funny that you feel you are an expert but yet you have not experimented & ruled out for yourself whether natural cures work. An expert is always learning new things that is what make them qualified to speak up. What is your take on holistic dentistry? I wonder if you even care about the people you treat or is it just a career choice made for $$.
  37. Alicia Flick
    Gabby Vazquez The moment a "personal choice" victimizes another, it's no longer personal. I highly suggest you search for 'Best Speech You Will Ever Hear – Gary Yourofsky' on YouTube. Watch it from start to finish, see if that doesn't change your stance. Also, the documentary Earthlings is a must-see. Truly eye-opening and life-changing, it's also available in full on YouTube. Or watch it on the website, earthlings.com. Most people won't bother to watch, they aren't open-minded enough/don't have the courage. Are you different?
  38. John Ozzy
    The best thing to do is to kill the bacteria that cause tooth decay in the first place. Brush your teeth with baking soda only and rinse your mouth out a solution of hydrogen peroxide.
  39. Seth A. Yellin – Since we never came from any APE, your argument and point is moot. ALL Apes have 48 chromosomes. HUMANS have 46. We did not "evolve" from any Apes and DROP 2 chromosomes.
  40. Traci Kay Bovat
    So then if this article originates with a myth about the "reasoning's" behind tooth decay, my question is this: is there in fact a way to get calcium BACK into your teeth once it is gone. The reason I ask, Long story short is when I was pregnant with my first born the dumbo for an OB at that time said that after the first trimester it wasn't necessary to take prenatal's anymore and being young and BELIEVING what the doc was telling me, I didn't take them any longer and now, 9 years later, slowly my teeth have been dying from the inside out because of the severe lack of calcium so needless to say I am in for a TON of dental work that is going to coast me a small fortune… So I would LOVE to know if there is a way to get that calcium back to my teeth and hopefully be able to save most of them from having the same outcome as most my teeth are already dealing with :(. Also, I may have missed it or it may be on the next post but I didn't see where it said the part about " healing cavities naturally"…. If anyone has any insight to both my questions I would LOVE to know about them and I am for sure going to share this! So thank you to my friend Kerry for posting this! :) After I figure out how to share this I'm going to read onto the next post!!!
    FOR VEGANS AND MEAT EATERS… heres my take.. ok. now a horse doesnt eat meat. period. he will starve before he eats meat. why do i mention this? because if we werent SUPPOSED to eat at least some meat, we would not touch it. …just saying
  42. Kimmie Bair Yes but do you eat organic food products as well??? Unless you grow the food yourself most food has some kind of "poison " either in it or on it… Sadly governments dont seem to give a shit about what they are doing to humanity… Its every man/woman for themselves…
  43. Hey! Guess what? This is an article about dental health and the fact that we've been lied to (shocker!). It's really not entitled "Glen is a vegan….what do you think about that?" Way to miss the point peeps! ADHD much?
  44. Jerica I am 54 I have been vegetarian-vegan since I was 20. I guess according to your belief I should be dead by now. Well, hell no! I feel fit as a fiddle, I do 1 hour of yoga everyday, cycle many miles a week and have a lot of energy. Pardon my french…. carry on eating your meat, but do not try to preach other people when you haven't the faintest idea what you are talking about.
    If we are supposed to be carnivores like the Tiger for instance…..then why are our teeth and internals different and why do we cook the raw meat before eating it ? Surely we are more akin to the vegetarian apes ? just saying ! :)
    Alicia Flick Completely agree. When I was a teenager I was berated by my entire family for not eating meat (except my dad who was awesome). Eventually, and sadly I caved to the pressure of the easy, non-confrontational lifestyle of a meat eater again. After watching Earthlings it kickstarted me back a vegetarian and now Veganism. This time instead of cowing to the bullshit thrown at me, I just tell people that unless they watch what I have watched, they have no foundation to stand on. Anyways. Goodnight :)
  47. Seth A. Yellin "The author does not believe that a vitamin B12 deficiency is more widespread in vegans or vegetarians – this is probably just another marketing lie! In fact, many so-called studies 'showing vegans deficient' have to be carefully studied themselves – many of them do not prove vegans to be deficient at all! In fact, contrary to meat and dairy industry propaganda, meat-eaters are known to be more likely to have a vitamin B12 deficiency – this has been known since 1959!!(1)"
    Even though there is probably a lot of bullshit here, any information that shows others that there is alternative information out there is a good thing. In the same way that people protesting for really silly shit that they have no real understanding of (beyond their need to help make a difference) is still a good thing.
    If they wake someone up to one iota of the formation of an alternative perception of the world, it may help that person grow and open up to more options around them.
    Even if that idiot (who probably has no idea he/she is an idiot) is wrong in whatever he/she is preaching, that idiot is still essential to the painfully slow evolution of the human being. Still have a large percent of our brain to discover n_n.
    So culty it may be, however it's all how you perceive it. We are animals putting our feelers out for new ways to grow and change and be better as a species, and wrong or right, its all part of the game.
    Anyway, moral of the tirade; don't tell the idiot's they are idiot's unless they are harming the race directly. We need them :)
    Yo yo, people really get offended quick. Well, AS A DENTIST, all I can say is that balanced diet is important, but brushing 3 times per day, flossing, getting a good mouthwash and regular visit to the Dentist is good enough. But carry on arguing guys, I´m happy with tooth decays. I HAVE TO PAY MY CAR :D
  50. Steve Schreiber
    I don't usually read these types of columns. I am all about being healthy and run, workout, and eat healthy most of the time. I choose not to base my diet off of foods that are supposedly going to prevent cavities and I'm guessing the author of this article still brushes his teeth as well. The issue with him looking at indigenous people and ancient people in this study is that these people had a much shorter life expectancy than we do today. This is partially BECAUSE of poor dental hygiene as many died because of infection caused by tooth decay. I brush my teeth 2 times a day and floss about 5 times a week and at 31, have never had a cavity and I'm guessing the brushing and flossing will not lower my life expectancy. After I read through the comments I have just a couple "extras" to add to this post…Seth A. Yellin, I'm not sure where you did your research but all of the large primates (Chimpanzees and Gorrillas included) eat meat during periods of their diet each year. Many are actually cannibolistic (http://news.bbc.co.uk/earth/hi/earth_news/newsid_8058000/8058365.stm). I'm very much a "don't judge another person" person and to those that choose not to eat meat because they are against the process I say fine. To those that say you are healthier not eating meat I would like you to go and check out a nursing home and see how many vegan/vegetarians are there. If it were healthier then woiuldn't vegetarian/vegans have a higher average life expectancy?(http://www.lef.org/magazine/mag2006/jan2006_awsi_01.htm) I say to each their own. Eat healthy (animal products or not), follow good hygiene habits, protect yourself when and where you can (seat belts), stay active, use preventative methods such as taking vitamin supplements and staying up on your vaccines (and no, there is absolutely zero proof they cause autism and the guy that invented that rumor has come out and said he doctored his study but 15 years later people are still confused about it, don't believe me do some research) and enjoy the little things in life that make life worth living.
  51. A Tekiyah Ima
    Organs and Glands meats like liver? Are these things Kosher, under the Food Law of Torah? Just wondering! :-)
  52. David Sforza
    Unfortunately everything that would be great for my teeth would also be bad for my gout. Since gout is MUCH more painful than a toothache I'll do what I can to stick with a balanced approach.
  53. I wrote nutritionfacts.org to ask about this website and they wrote back: Thanks so much for your email. I looked at that Natural Health website and had difficulty figuring out who was sponsoring it (?)
    Additionally, I would note that while Dr. Greger is sharing the most current evidence-based scientific papers, the author of this Natural Health study, Derek Henry–health coach) does not actually cite any scientific papers. He just states his own theory on cavities. His opinion does not make him an expert.
    Additionally, the one (now deceased) "expert", Weston Price DDS that Mr. Henry refers to gave questionable advice http://www.quackwatch.org/01QuackeryRelatedTopics/holisticdent.html
    I hope this helps!
  54. Judy Saakes
    Kevin there is now a better way to be able to chew with full dentures. You can have 4 implants into the bones and screws put on to hold the dentures stay in place. You can check out the internet for more info…hope this helps :-)
  55. Thomas Raven
    Very little of this advice is workable for vegetarians and almost none of it for vegans. How about more veggie-friendly options?
  56. Giancarlo Gini : Jerica did not state that any particular dietary approach was correct or incorrect, she related a specific example (relating to a specific disease and its effect on a specific person) from her own experience. She is also correct in stating that Seth *MAY* find that he needs to change his diet back to something that includes meat in the future. As people's bodies change over time and we sometimes need to adapt our nutritional intake to meet those new requirements. It is just as possible that Seth *MAY NOT* need to change from his new vegetarian path – Jerica never expressed an opinion either way as to what he may/might or must do.
    All Jerica did address was the, for want of a better word, 'all-encompassing' nature of Seth's post (a post, I note, he has cut and pasted a couple of times); if anyone is guilty of preaching, it would be Seth, not Jerica.
    Maybe you should have actually read what she wrote instead of deciding that she had an agenda, which is clearly neither implicit or explicit in her response; and, from her experience, relating to the specific example she cited (her husband), I would suggest to you that she knows EXACTLY what she is talking about.
  57. Seth A. Yellin Not the case. A meta survey (survey of surveys) revealed that heavy meat eaters live the shortest lives, vegetarians next, vegans next and infrequent meat eaters live the longest.
    So it would appear, from the statistics, that meat is beneficial but like anything else, it can be overdone.
  58. Jenni Temple Rawlins
    I'm vegetarian and don't shout about everything I do/don't agree with. I wish these threads could just stay focused and not become so hateful and angry. Bottom line is we all have choices, which not everyone will live by. Let's respect each other, shall we? Xoxo. Great article. Those of us with gluten issues love to read anything we can to be as educated at possible regarding our health. Thank you.
  59. Robert Anrk Kennedy Jnr
    ok the way I see this is just to help people and give advice on what the boday needs ..so why are people getting uptight about this realx and also being angry all the time and grinding those teeth will not help them :D
  60. Dee Sims
    You may be a 'registered' hygienist but you don't know squat if you believe fluoride is good for anyone. just like nurses with their degree, thinking chemo and antibiotics are a cure-all. These people are all so ignorant but have a certificate of brainwashing so they think they know it all!
  61. I think the reason a lot of vegetarians get mad is because they are aware of the suffering and absolute torture that animals go to so they can be eaten. We respect that they have their own lives and can't stand people taking that away from them. Why people who eat meat get mad at vegetarians, that I don't understand. Because they don't agree? Now, if someone eats meat I can respect if they get their meat from a good source, and there are many options. So this article doesn't offend me because I know that the writer doesn't support factory farms or animal suffering.
  62. Leslie Wright
    Sandra Burr I dont care which way ppl choose to eat but your statement is incorrect. Carcass and vegetables do not pass thru the same way. It takes longer for the intestines to process and digest the meat therefore sits longer and decomposes in the body. Plant matter on the other hand gets digested and passes thru the body with a quicker process which doesnt allow the possibility of decomposing plant matter…UNLESSS there is meat clogging the system in front of the plant matter causing a huge decomposing soup of meat and plants.
  63. Travis Spaulding
    Statistically, vegans do not live longer than meat eaters, or vegetarians. They are missing some crucial components in the diet. In the video . He says that the balance between Omega 3 and Omega 6s are very important. Increasing Omega 3 oils (flax seed, olive oil), reducing Omega 6 oils and taking B-12 fortified foods or suppliments offsets any disadvantages of a vegetarian diet. http://m.youtube.com/watch?v=q7KeRwdIH04
