Is Hemp Oil the Miracle Cure-All We’ve Waited For?

By Matt Hall — Staff Writer

This week, Underground Health ran a story about how cannabis has been proven to cure cancer by producing Ceramide (a substance that controls cell death and prevents blood vessel growth in tumors, basically choking them to death). More and more people are beginning to see and appreciate the power of hemp oil as a natural cure for many different diseases. From cancer to seizures to even PMS, marijuana has been shown as benefiting many health conditions. But it’s the oil produced from the most potent, pure cannabis that some advocates claim is best for treating disease and even curing cancer.

It’s powerful. It’s effective. It’s safe. And it’s conveniently illegal — at least in the form Rick Simpson, hemp oil expert, claims is most effective for treating disease.

Hemp Oil — Really a Natural Cure for Everything?

To the skeptic, this sounds too fantastic to  be true. In fact, some would call these claims a modern version of the snake oil salesman’s promise to “cure what ails ya.” However, many who have tried this unorthodox treatment swear by its results.

According to Rick Simpson’s website, hemp oil can provide the following benefits:

  • Treat (and often cure) all forms of disease and conditions

  • Provide a completely safe medication

  • Effectively manage pain without risking addiction, dependency or other life-crippling side effects of chemical drugs

  • Give users a medical system that is safer and more effective than the current medical system

  • Treat illnesses modern medicine cannot even properly diagnose

  • Rejuvenate vital organs and restore 20 to 30 years of life

  • Potentially reverse the effects of aging

  • Harness the natural power of cannabis in a way that provides health benefits without getting users “high” (if they don’t want)

  • Balance the body’s pH levels and create an environment that discourages cancer growth

  • Boost melatonin levels

  • Treat and cure cancer of all forms

These are pretty bold claims — can an oil derived from a simple cannabis plant actually deliver on these lofty promises? Several users of Simpson’s oil recipe say they used his formula to beat cancer, proving the positive health effects of this compound.

Corrie Yellend was diagnosed with anal canal cancer in July 2011 (the same type of cancer that killed Farrah Fawcett.) Already consuming multiple pain killers as the result of a previous surgery, Yellend was told the only treatment for her specific kind of cancer was radiation therapy.

The cure could potentially have been worse than the disease. According to Yellend, the treatment had the potential to fuse her rectal and vaginal openings shut due to scarring. After watching a documentary about Simpson’s hemp oil cure, she decided to give it a try. In her own words,

About 2 weeks into my regime, the pain in my sternum, as well as the nerve pain had become almost non existent. . . . I started to sleep through the night and stopped taking sleeping pills. I saw one of my doctors a couple of weeks ago and was thrilled to hear he believes there is a decrease in both the size and number of tumors. . . .

Before I started using cannabis, I typically took 10-15 Tylenol 3 a day, along with a smorgasbord of other drugs. Now, in a 24 hour period, a half a Tylenol 3 is all I need. I think it’s understandable when I say I get very emotional when I think of how far I’ve come. Not only has cannabis changed my life, it is SAVING my life.

Others  have had similar experiences taking the hemp oil treatment, although a study proving the results of these claims has yet to be published in a medical journal.

Modern Medicine Hiding This Cure

Simpson isn’t surprised at what he feels is a cover-up in the medical community over this cure. “A great many doctors will tell you that you should not turn your back on the medical system,” Simpson writes. “They do not do this out of concern for their patients´ well-being but out of concern for their profession and paychecks. For quite some time, the medical system has been much more about money than they are about healing.”

More public studies and research need to be conducted, though it’s unlikely the profit-driven medical system would allow a miracle cure like hemp oil to actually see the light of day in supermarkets and pharmacies. It’s likely anti-hemp legislation will continue until public demand for medicinal hemp use becomes completely legalized in the United States and other countries.

Currently, medical marijuana is legal in the following states:

  • Alaska

  • Arizona

  • California

  • Colorado

  • Connecticut

  • DC

  • Delaware

  • Hawaii

  • Illinois

  • Maine

  • Massachusetts

  • Michigan

  • Montana

  • Nevada

  • New Hampshire

  • New Jersey

  • New Mexico

  • Oregon

  • Rhode Island

  • Vermont

  • Washington

See local laws for specific information about how you can use medicinal marijuana in your area, especially to see if you can produce Rick Simpson’s hemp oil and attempt treatment of your illnesses in this way.

Making Your Own Hemp Oil

If you’d like to make hemp oil, you need to make sure you only use the highest quality hemp. The kind you usually purchase from drug dealers has been frequently treated with pesticides or chemicals, so you have to know where you are getting your medicine. If the information hemp oil advocates propagate is accurate, even in a small degree, it means huge changes for the medical system. As medical marijuana become legalized in more areas, it’s possible the average citizen will discover the incredible benefits of this miracle cure.
